For the price I got it ($250), it's a good looking monitor, but needs calibration for better color accuracy. I recommend RTINGs ICC if you don't want to trial and error.
I got confused about how to overclock this monitor. It turns out you have to overlock it using its own menu, not Nvidia control panel.
Great monitor, especially for the price! That 170Hz bit doesn't lie either, unlike the other monitor (from a different brand) that I definitely needed to return. Non-curved, 170hz 1440p monitor with height and swivel adjustments! This is awesome! I'm coming from a mainly curved monitor setup, so the fish eye bit you'll read about is real, but it went away within a week. Did wonders for the RDR2 game though, especially when getting Arthur drunk. :D
I got it at micro center for $299.99. Off the bat, it has an insane visual and performance uplift from my dell monitor. Works great, very fast
I was not expecting the monitor to be the best out of all my peripherals. Frankly Iโm flabbergasted, in awe, amazed, and astounded at how outstanding this monitor is. The visual fidelity is phenomenal. After some color calibration with the guide provided from rtings.comโs review of the VG27AQL1A, I was able to achieve very high color accuracy with the monitor. I set the monitor to overclock as well. The pixel-refresh rate and response time is one of the best things about this monitor. Iโm not sure what monitor engineering sorcery went into this, but it feels buttery. The 170hz overclocked refresh rate is staggeringly smooth.
My previous monitor was a VG278Q with a 144hz refresh rate. On that monitor, it was very easy to spot the difference between 80 and 100 fps. But on the VG27AQL1A, the pixel refresh rate is quick enough to make 80 fps and 170 fps feel basically the same. I wish I was kidding. Sometimes I have to check the windows display settings and the monitor menu settings often just to confirm I am running at 170hz. I know that Afterburner is telling me that Iโm being shown 80 fps, but I have a really hard time believing it. Its that good.
The worst thing about the monitor is itโs local dimming zones, its really easy to spot ghosting with text or objects on black backgrounds. Its not too much of an issue since I keep the brightness at 60% (which is still plenty bright on my eyes). I guess that is one other bad thing about it. If you have the brightness too high it does kinda make your eyes burn, especially after using it for a while. But as I said, I had turned down the brightness to solve that issue. Overall I am very impressed with this monitor.
Loving it so far. Contrast is better than I've experienced previously on IPS. Color looks pretty accurate and vibrant right out of the box (still need to get around to calibrating). Very detailed crisp image. Ergonomics are good. I can adjust the height and tilt as needed. Only con is the sound quality but that's not something I expect the monitor to handle anyway. Excellent value overall.
coming from 1080p i can tell the difference for sure but games like fortnite will burn your eyes if you sit too close to this monster. also elden ring looks good af
a good monitor with poor audio.
Great 170hz monitor for the price. Also I don't know if anyone said anything about it, but this monitor also supports 10-bit as well, up to 120hz (which is still not bad). Highly recommend.
Coming from a 1080p monitor to 1440p, was a huge upgrade. It is the sweet spot (imo) between looking at a great picture and not losing performance with highly pace games. Easily OC's to 170hz without any flickering!
